1977 - 1985 / immigration to Germany
Salim was born on August 13, 1974 in Karachi / Pakistan. When he was three years old in 1977 he emigrated to Germany / Rhineland-Palatinate with his parents, both born in India / Gujrat, and an older brother. As an immigrant child, he attended kindergarten and elementary school in the district town of Kusel and was naturalizedgert.
1985 - 1990 / school leaving certificate
In 1985, when he was eleven, his family moved to West Berlin. The family lived in socially challenging times in the working-class district of Berlin Wedding, where Salim successfully completed his advanced school leaving certificatete.
1990 - 1993 / specialist training
After graduating from school, Salim completed his three-year training as a specialist in retail with a final exam from the IHK (Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
1993 - 1999 / Start-up career from the parental living roomr
Unprecedented high-flyer out of nowhere & crash at the same time: Salim started his own business at the age of 19 and founded the first travel agency (FAX & FLY), which made it possible for the first time to book flight tickets and hotels by fax. In times when there was no internet and email, this was a revolutionary customer-friendly service. At the age of 21, Salim already owned several travel agency chains and a charter airline. At the end of 1999, Salim suffered a severe setback when he lost his airline, he had to go into personal bankruptcy and overnight debt of one million German marks. In the following ten years, Salim was able to pay his debt gradually through hard workn.
2000 - 2020 / restarted as visionary inventor
With the advent of computers in households and the early days of the Internet, Salim founded the first technology start-up in East Berlin Mitte (traffics Group-) and invented travel booking on the Internet. Salim was the first in the world to succeed with his partner in inventing the world's first digital travel booking technology for flight and hotel bookings on the Internet. Salim's first customers included Microsoft, Expedia, HRS, Air Berlin and Booking.com. Salim managed to shape the company into one of Europe's leading technology companies in the travel industry. Today Salim and his team form the digital backbone of the industry and serve hundreds of hotels and airlines worldwide with their software.
2020 - / speaker, advisor and investor
In times of advancing digitization, Salim advises large corporations in the field of digitization and process automation. Salim is also involved in investments in technology start-ups as well as in ecologically sustainable energy projects.
